DAY BY DAY ITINERARY:
DAY 1, HOME / ATHENS:
Depart for daily flight to Athens. Arrival in El. Venizelos airport.
A DLS Travel representative welcomes you to Greece and transfers you
to Baby Grand hotel.

DAY 2, ATHENS / KALAVRITA:
After breakfast, board the motor coach for your Athens city tour. Enjoy a tour
of Athens, combining many of the city's principal modern and classical sights.
This tour includes an overview of the modern city and striking contrasts to the
remains of its glorious past. Drive by the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in front
of the Parliament House on Constitution Square, the Panathenian Stadium
(site of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896). See vistas of the Presidential
Palace (ex Royal Palace), government buildings and elegant homes. Drive along
Panepistimiou Avenue and view the Catholic Cathedral, the Academy, University,
National Library and Omonia Square. In contrast, we visit the Roman Temple of
Olympian Zeus and the crowning beauty and glory that was Ahens, the Acropolis
with its many monuments atop its rocky base, including the awesome Parthenon,
the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike and the Erechtheion with its Porch of
Maidens. After the tour we drive you to Old Athens area “Plaka”.
We Rest for half hour walking around the narrow roads & looking to the souvenir
shops, cafeterias & many restaurants. We get our lunch in “Plaka Restaurant” a
typical Greek tavern.We drive you to Kalavrita to our hotel Helmos, check in.
Free time & Dinner in a local tavern – Overnight.

DAY 3, – KALAVRITA:
Breakfast & to day we enjoy our morning in one of the famous ski centre in
Kalavrita we spend all the morning till 14:00 PM. We return to Kalavrita Town
for Lunch then to our hotel for rest.Kalavrita ski resort is situated on the North
West side of mountain Helmos at an altitude of 1,700 meters (base) to 2,340
meters (summit).
It has been operating since 1988 and consist of 7 lifts, 12 ski runs, spacious free
parking, cafeteria, restaurant, ski rental shop, ski school and First Aid Station.
It is located 14 kilometers from Kalavrita and only 203 Kilometers from Athens.
Rest of the day free at leisure – Dinner in a local restaurant – Overnight.

DAY 4, – KALAVRITA / ATHENS:
Breakfast, to day we spend our day to enjoy our tour in Kalavrita.
Kalavrita is a historical and beautiful town of 2.000 residents, situated
at the base of mythical Helmos mountain at an altitude of 750 meters, a tourist
destination. , all year around.
It is 14 kilometers away from the ski runs and 32 Kilometers from the
beaches of N. Peloponnese. It has surprising natural beauties with elements of
immense tradition and the atmosphere of a tourist resort that is continually
developing. Kalavrita's history starts from 776 B.C when Kalavrita was known
as Kynaitha, always according to historian Pafsania's descriptions.
During the beginnings of the 13th century when the Franks conquered the
Peloponnese, Kalavrita was assigned to Baron Raoul de Tournay who built a
castle, caring his name in order to control Helmos mountain's passages, which
later became one of the most important medieval castles of Peloponnese.
Since there were no male descendants, Kalavrita's barony was assigned to the
De La Tremouig family till the year 1330 when Kalavrita was liberated by the
Byzantine generals of Mystras and remained free to the year 1460.During the
Byzantine, monastery Agia Lavra was erected (961) along with the Monastery
Mega Spileo (360), the most important monasteries in the town of Kalavrita,
5 kilometers and 12 kilometers away from it respectively.In the year 1460
Kalavrita was conquered by the Turks, even though it was defended bravely.
In the year 1687 Kalavrita were taken over by the Venetians till the year 1715
when it was again overtaken by the Turks till the year 1821.
On March 21st 1821 Archbishop Germanos raised the Revolution Banner at
monastery Agia Lavra which started The Revolution against the Turks giving
this way freedom not only to Kalavrita but also all over Greece.
The construction of the funicular railway finished in 1896 connecting Kalavrita
to Diacopto through the valley of Vouraikos river. During WW2, especially on
December 13th 1943 Kalavrita was brutally attacked by the German army who
put the city on fire and executed all the male population ageing twelve and older
at Kapi hill converting Kalavrita to a dead state….
A state whose name is identified with heroism , a tragic destiny and freedom
fighting. We get the way back to Athens to our hotel 2 Fashion, check in &
free noon time – Overnight.
